| Rob Middleton is a technology consultant for E.ON New Build and Technology in the UK. He acts a project architect and technical leader in the smart homes and smart energy domain, collaborating with colleagues across Europe. He obtained a degree in chemistry from the University of Nottingham and subsequently worked in academia and a start-up company developing drug discovery technology. Before joining E.ON in 2008, he was a technology consultant at the UK Ministry of Defence, facilitating technology transfer and open innovation. In addition to considerable depth of knowledge of “smart energy” issues, understanding how organisations innovate remains an area of professional interest. |

Sara Bell is responsible for developing UK Power Networks’ commercial strategy for future distribution network management and operation. This includes delivering significant savings in traditional electricity network investment and substantial regulatory outperformance through developing commercial alternatives to network reinforcement, such as Demand Side Management.
Sara is driving UK Power Networks’ strategic commercial approach to the ‘low carbon economy’. This encompasses maximising opportunities, including smart metering and more flexible DUoS tariffs, distributed generation, and ancillary services procured from customers and generators, as well as ensuring the efficiency of new electricity loads such as Electric Vehicles and Heat Pumps.
Prior to joining UK Power Networks, Sara spent several years in Clean Technology and Energy Efficiency in South East Asia working for Asia Carbon Connections. This role involved identifying opportunities to increase energy efficiency for corporates and government organisations, developing carbon credit creation opportunities, and investment reviews and due diligence on clean technology investments.
Sara sits on the ENA EV workgroup, on the National Physical Laboratory Centre for Carbon Measurement Stakeholder Group, on the EValu8 Plugged-in-Places Steering Committee and is a former member of the Singapore Government Climate Change Committee R&D workgroup.
Sara holds a Masters in Environmental Management and is a regular speaker at conferences and industry events. |

| Denis O Leary graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from UCC in 1980, and joined the Electricity Supply Board (ESB). In his time with ESB, Denis has served in a number of positions mostly in Distribution and Transmission Networks planning and construction. Denis was appointed Networks Operations Manager for ESB Networks in 1997 and as Head of Asset Management and Regulation in 2003 . He has recently taken up the position of Head of Sustainability and Systems, with specific responsibility for ESB's Smart Networks , Smart Metering , I.T. and Telecomms strategies. Denis is also ESB's representative on the Eurelectric Smart Grids Committee, and is a member of EPRI's Distribution Executive Committee on Intelli Grids. |

Prof. Duncan Botting BA FEI, FRSA, MIET, MIEEE
Duncan currently holds the posts of Business Innovation and Growth Director at Parsons Brinckerhoff (part of Balfour Beatty Group), Executive Chairman of the Scottish European Green Energy Centre and Managing Director Global Smart Transformation Limited. In these roles he works closely with customers, academia, industry, government and regulators to deliver innovative technical, commercial, environmentally balanced and culturally acceptable solutions to market challenges. His previous roles included Managing Director, ITI Energy (a research institute) and with ABB as Head of Technology & Business Development. He has over 35 years experience covering the complete spectrum of technical and commercial roles from apprentice to boardroom. He is a visiting professor at Imperial College London and the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
He is an active member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET, formerly the IEE) and is involved in many influential panels, advisory boards and committees at a National, European and International level. He is engaged across the energy domain from market design to primary fuels, generation (including CCS), transmission and distribution to end user issues. As an active member of the IET Energy Policy Panel, Vice-Chair of the European Technology Platform for “SmartGrids”, DECC/Ofgem Smart Grid Forum and other Smart Infrastructure groups he is helping to shape future thinking in the energy sector. He is also a founding member and served on the shadow board of the National Skills Academy for Power.
In the area of energy and climate security Duncan has been a thought leader for over 20 years and has been contributing to national critical infrastructure working groups (DoE, UK, Asia), global corporate R&D and scenario building to inform and challenge board level decisions. |

Gunnar Lorenz is Head of Unit - Networks at EURELECTRIC, the European electricity industry association. He is leading a team managing the Networks Committee and its groups within the EURELECTRIC Secretariat. The focus of EURELECTRIC's Networks Committee is to represent European DSOs with one voice towards European Institutions and stakeholders. Several international working groups support the Committee on issues such as Smart Grids, Electric Vehicles, Network Regulation and Customers, TSO-DSO interface and Standardisation.
Before he was responsible for several EURELECTRIC groups on statistical, economic and scenario analysis. His previous working experience includes strategic and economic consulting companies (Roland Berger and Frontier Economics). In total he has 10 years experience in the field of energy economics in both professional and academic field. Gunnar Lorenz holds a degree in business economics (University of Cologne) and was awarded with the Theodor Wessels Award in 2000. |

Thomas has since graduating from universities in Norway and Denmark been working in the areas of marketing, sales, communications and business development.
From the year 2000 until 2011 at SEAS-NVE, where he as Marketing Director at Denmark’s second largest Utility was responsible for building one of Denmark’s – if not Europe’s - strongest brands for a utility. He has several times been nominated or winning the Danish Direct Marketing Award, ECHO Award and the European Utility Award.
In 2005 he was also made head of department for establishing a new market for heat pumps in Denmark via a joint venture company between IVT Industrier AB in Sweden and SEAS-NVE called Naturvarme a/s. In two years the market for heat pumps grew at an extensive rate and Naturvarme ended up with a marketshare of 50% in the Danish market until it was in 2007 sold to German company Bosch.
From 2007 Thomas was one of the main architects behind the award winning Smart Meter roll out campaign: “Meter Hunt”, which remains one of the most effective user involving campaigns in the utility industry with more than 100.000 users actively being involved in logging and monitoring their energy consumption
From April 2011 Thomas was employed as a Senior Manager in Panasonic Eco Solutions where it is his main task to further develop the business strategy on the Panasonic Smart Home solution; Lifinity as well as the other Panasonic solutions on reducing energy consumption. This is a task which demand creating a great network among the European Utilities and focusing on customer values and needs.
He has extensive experience as a speaker, a panel member and a chairman of both Danish and international conferences. |

Al Destribats is Vice President and Advisor to the Energy Practice at J.D. Power and Associates. The Energy Practice includes syndicated, proprietary and solutions-based studies for the energy industry, including residential and business studies for electric and gas utilities, as well as studies related to the emerging smart grid/smart energy initiatives. The practice also coordinates similar studies conducted in the United States, Canada, the European Union and the Asia Pacific region for residential and business energy customers.
Prior to joining J.D. Power and Associates in 2000, Mr. Destribats spent 20 yearsat General Electric in various marketing and strategic planning assignments and asvice president of energy services and marketing of New England Electric System. Previously, he held consulting positions with Navigant Consulting, Xenergy and Synergic Resources Corporation.
Mr. Destribats is a frequent speaker on industry issues and has authored several articles. He has also testified as an expert witness in utility hearings.

(*1963) is engaged in the metering, AMR, energy management and utilities business for more than 20 years now within the GÖRLITZ group.
After a basic professional training as banker and additional study of mathematics and economics he joined the GÖRLITZ group in 1989 as product manager for telemetry services.
Three years later he assumed leadership of the sales department and set the groundwork for today's activities of GÖRLITZ in the utility industry. Mr. Hoffmann joined the board in 1997. Due to a serious illness he partly resigned from his responsibilities in 2002 but fortunately returned in 2004 to resume his position on the board and is responsible for the strategy and business development of the group.
In parallel to his business responsibilities for GÖRLITZ, Ralf Hoffmann is active in various energy and metering associations and supports on standardisation committees such as the DLMS UA, and contributes greatly by drawing on his vast experience to answer queries from ESMIG, ZVEI and European energy market regulators.
As vice president of the European Smart Metering Industry Organisation ESMIG, Ralf Hoffmann coordinates the cooperation of the 20 leading vendors of meters, metering systems, and telecommunication services. He actually chairs the working group "communication" within the standardisation project M/441 of the European Commission on behalf of CENELEC, CEN and ETSI to create and maintain a European-wide standard for Smart Metering functionalities and communication.
Since 1st June 2011 Ralf Hoffmann has directed the company as Chief Executive Officer and will assist the GÖRLITZ Group with the exciting task of implementing the energy system change in Europe in the following years, involving the transition to more decentralised energy and energy generation increasingly based on renewable sources. The challenge and commitment is to provide extensive solutions for offering maximum transparency of smart grid costs by causer-responsible measuring of time-related energy consumption using Smart Metering solutions. |

His background within P2P networks, distributed computing and energy network infrastructures, facilitates his management of a diverse portfolio of ongoing support programmes for pre-commercial innovation developed by UK companies for the Digital Energy sector.
He is a member of the UK’s Smart Energy Special Interest Group, alongside UK regulators OFGEM/OFCOM, the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and members of Smartgrid GB. He works with network operators, power companies, research organisations and government agencies to promote and develop a Smart Grid vision for the UK. Andrew also leads on Digital Oilfields and innova tion support for the UK Oil and Gas Sector. |
